DreamActivist.org calls for immediate action on two deportation cases

Nadia Habib is currently a junior at Stony Brook University in New York, majoring in psychology. Her mother, Nazmin, is the wife of a green card holder and has three U.S citizen children to take care of. Nadia and her mother filed for asylum soon after they arrival from Bangladesh. At the age of 10 Nadia was ordered deported. They were denied motion to reopen their case after a mistake of the immigration judge. They are set to be deported on Sept. 29 at 11 a.m.

Please take action to stop their deportation: Call DHS – Janet Napolitano (202.282.8495) and ICE – John Morton (202.732.3000)

Sandra Lopez was brought to the United States when she was only 3 days old. She has been living in Tucson, Ariz. her whole life, but is currently fighting her deportation to Mexico, a country she does not recognize as her own. Currently Sandra is being detained in the Eloy Detention Center. She has been in detention two months.

Please make a call asking for her to be released from detention (if you get an answering machine, leave a message of support): DHS – Janet Napolitano (202.282.8495) and ICE – John Morton (202.732.3000)

Poem to appear in Sept. 6 edition of Floricanto at La Bloga

The moderators of Poets Responding to SB 1070 (become a fan of their community page on facebook) have selected one of my poems, "Broken Ground," for the Sept. 6 online issue of the Floricanto at La Bloga (http://labloga.blogspot.com/).

I'll post a link when the poem is up. The poem is up at: http://labloga.blogspot.com/2011/09/magu-memorial-on-line-floricanto.html. Tell me what you think.
